CENTRALIA, Wash. — Centralia police said an officer was forced to shoot an aggressive pit bull while attempting to serve a warrant Monday night.
On Monday at about 7:50 p.m., officers went to a home in the 100 block of South Cedar Street to try to find a suspect with a felony warrant.
As officers were talking to several people inside the home, a large, white pit bull came out of the house charged at one of the officers, according to police.
The officer, Sgt. Carl Buster, fired one shot, striking the dog in the front shoulder/leg area.
Buster said he feared that he was going to be attacked by the dog.
The dog was transported to Cascade Veterinarian Hospital for treatment.
Several people inside the house were arrested on unrelated charges.
