MILTON, Wash. — The school bus driver who suffered a medical emergency and lost consciousness while he was driving a bus filled with children in Milton has died.
The emergency prompted two middle school students to spring into action when they saw the driver was incapacitated, taking the wheel, bringing the bus to a stop and trying to perform chest compressions on the man.
The bus was on its way to Surprise Lake Middle School in Milton Monday when the driver became stricken just after 8 a.m.
Relatives of the driver, Ryan Callis, said he died Wednesday at a hospital.
