Arrest made in double homicide in East Bremerton

The arrest of Geraldo Dejesus in the murder of his former girlfriend and a 2-year-old boy didn't come as a surprise.

Dejesus, 30, has been a person of interest in the murder of Heather Kelso and her roommate's son Kaden Lum since the two were shot to death in late March.

Lum's father, James Trammell, says he believes Dejesus came after Kelso and his son got caught up in the violence.

“My personal opinion is that Kaden wasn’t intentional,” said Trammell. “Heather may be a different story.”

Kelso and Lum were shot and killed when someone burst into her home in Bremerton on March 28. Another man in the home was wounded.

Kitsap County sheriff's investigators questioned Dejesus, a former boyfriend who had a child with Kelso, shortly after the murders. Kelso had taken out an order of protection naming Dejesus after the two broke up saying she feared for her safety.

Investigators said they didn't have enough evidence to arrest him until early Thursday morning

“We wanted to make sure that (we had) all the available information that we could, all the evidence that we could,” said Kitsap Sheriff’s Office Lt. Earl Smith.

Trammell said the arrest of a suspect is a relief, but doesn't change the fact his son is gone.

“It’s good to know they got him,” said Trammell. “But it’s still not going to bring Kaden back, it’s not going to bring Heather back.”
