SEATTLE — Just before Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Amazon is reportedly requiring a number of customers to change their account passwords.

ZDNet reports several affected customers shared emails they received from the company. They said Amazon has reset their account password. The number of affected customers has not been released.

In the email, Amazon said it "recently discovered that your [Amazon] password may have been improperly stored on your device or transmitted to Amazon in a way that could potentially expose it to a third party."

The email said Amazon has “no reason to believe passwords were compromised."
