Drier weather ahead for Thanksgiving Day

A ridge of high pressure moves into Western Washington on Thursday, and ahead of this feature, we’ll be seeing the rain and mountain snow coming to an end – largely – later tonight into early Thanksgiving. Still, we could get another inch of snow or slush at the passes tonight. In the lowlands, rain tonight will mainly be in the South Sound but some sprinkles or light showers are possible elsewhere ahead of about the midnight hour.

Going into Thanksgiving, expect some pockets of drizzle and plenty of clouds to start tomorrow. We could get a bit of sunshine later in the morning through the afternoon hours. Highs will be in the 40s. In the mountains, some flurries are possible but not expecting any significant pass snowfall tomorrow.

Thursday night and Friday will be dry too with some sun at times. Rain returns on Friday night through Saturday morning as a front moves across the area. Rain will taper to showers pretty quickly by Saturday afternoon and Sunday looks mainly dry with some sunshine getting through.

A stronger weather system arrives Sunday night and it’ll likely be pretty rainy and breezy to start Monday, though damaging winds aren’t expected. Beyond that early-week weather system, it looks as though the forecast is trending drier yet staying chilly. We could have some frost and freeze concerns in the lowlands by the middle of next week if skies clear out by then.
