(2/1) Chance of wet snow for a few hours Wednesday

Through tonight, the Puget Sound convergence zone that had still been delivering a little light snow to the mountains and a rain/snow mix or wet snow to some lowland locations of Snohomish County is ending. Still, a few spotty areas of wet snow or rain is possible into tonight, though the vast majority of the area will be dry through tonight.

Colder air will be pushing into the area from British Columbia and it’ll be a freezing morning Wednesday most areawide with upper 20s to low 30s in the lowlands.

A warm front will push into the area slowly from the southwest on Wednesday and as it brings some moisture in, look for some areas of rain and wet snow, even down to sea level from mid morning through about early to mid-afternoon Wednesday. While it will look interesting outside where snow falls, we aren’t expecting much in the way of accumulations. The best chances for a dusting of snow to perhaps one inch will be from Snohomish County northward and generally away from large bodies of water like Puget Sound. Farther south from about King County southward, it’ll likely be too warm for any accumulation of snow below about 500-1000 feet.

And yes, there will be some areas that receive no snow at all!

By mid-late afternoon, snow levels are rising to 1,000 feet and into tomorrow evening, the chance for snow across most lowland areas will be gone. Highs will eventually reach the low 40s for Seattle.

Again, this is not a significant snow event and impacts to travel should be minimal to none at all, though some locations could “whiten up” for a brief time, especially across the northern half of the area on Wednesday. In the mountains, one to three inches of snow will fall. There are currently no winter weather advisories, watches or warnings for any part of Western Washington.

Thursday and Friday will be slightly warmer with highs in the upper 40s with some rain showers at times and a little mountain snow.

The weekend looks mainly dry with a mix of clouds and sunshine with lows in the 30s and highs in the mid to upper 40s.
