During a media briefing Thursday, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson addressed the team staying in the locker room during the National Anthem of last Sunday’s game.
"Racism in America right now is very, very real,” Wilson said. “Is it as strong as it was in the 1800s? I don't know. I don't think so. Probably because of slavery, right? But what's going with our communities and everything else, it's really important for us to be able to make a difference in our community."
He talked about their team huddle, how there’s a diverse mix of guys there all working for one common goal.
"There's never a wrong time to do the right thing. Regardless of where you're at. When there's a time to do the right thing, we do the right thing."
Wilson said he thinks that’s what people need to think about.
“Is there really a time that we shouldn't be talking about equality?"
