Commanders rookie CB Emmanuel Forbes Jr. ejected for helmet-to-helmet hit in 1st quarter vs Seattle

SEATTLE — Washington Commanders first-round pick Emmanuel Forbes Jr. was ejected Sunday for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Seattle wide receiver Tyler Lockett in the first quarter.

Forbes hit Lockett as he attempted to catch a throw from Geno Smith on a crossing route. Lockett was down on the field momentarily and quickly attended to by a trainer. Lockett walked off the field for further examination and was cleared to return to the game.

Referee Alex Kemp initially announced just a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty against Forbes, then added that the cornerback had been disqualified.

Defensive Plays

“The defense had some ups and downs. Yes, there were a few more missed tackles but Devon Witherspoon had three early pass breakups, and the newest Seahawk, Leonard Williams, sacked Sam Howell in the second quarter,” said KIRO 7 Sports Anchor Chris Francis.

“Boye Mafe got a sack for the seventh straight game, which forced a Commanders field goal in the third quarter.

“Spoon and Riq Woolen combined to force a Sam Howell fumble also in the third. Bobby Wagner was everywhere but the miscues in the fourth quarter are what they need to fix,” said Francis.
