SEATTLE, Wash. — A University of Washington fraternity has been suspended over allegations of hazing.
Beta Theta Pi Fraternity hazing allegations were received by the university last week.
A university spokesperson told us by email the allegations were passed on to Beta Theta Pi’s international organization – and the fraternity then had their chapter operations “suspended indefinitely.”
Members from headquarters traveled to Seattle and they are investigating now.
On its website, UW says it does not tolerate hazing.
When KIRO 7 asked members of the fraternity, one of them confirmed he was there during the alleged hazing, but nobody else would comment.
Though Beta Theta Pi's website says its chapter is proud of high GPA's and winning UW's "Chapter of the Year" in 2012, we found out they've also been in their share of trouble.
Back in 2004, the fraternity was suspended for throwing a party where brothers allegedly smeared food on sorority members who were wearing revealing clothes.
An international fraternity spokesperson told us Tuesday there will be "accountability" if the hazing allegations are proven true.
