HOUSTON — A Houston teacher has been charged with injury to a child after police said she dragged a 5-year-old across concrete.
An employee with Houston Independent School District first reported the incident after watching the assault on video on Nov. 3.
Around 10:44 a.m. a surveillance camera at Katherine Smith Elementary captured Jenny Alicia Dominguez, 44, dragging 5-year-old Fany Saldana by the hair and arm across more than 25 feet of concrete ground, according to KPRC-TV.
According to court documents obtained by KTRK-TV, the incident began when the 5-year-old refused to throw away a fork. Dominguez reportedly grabbed the child by the hair and arm and dragged her a short distance. After standing over her briefly, Dominguez allegedly dragged her for a second time to a garbage can.
According to court documents, the 5-year-old reportedly suffered a small laceration from the incident.
According to KHOU, a warrant has been issued for Dominguez, but she is not currently in custody.
The Houston Independent School District released a statement indicating that Dominguez had been “reassigned pending the outcome of the investigation.”
