NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A Tennessee woman is accused of fatally running over her former roommate with a vehicle in a motel parking lot last week.

Tessa Knapp, 21, of Nashville, was arrested Friday, according to a news release from the City of Nashville. She was charged with murder in the Feb. 5 death of Amanda Byers, 20, the release stated.

Knapp is being held without bond pending a hearing, city officials said.

Byers was run over in the parking lot of the Rodeway Inn in the Hermitage neighborhood of Nashville on Feb. 1, WKRN reported.

According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, Byers told officers that Knapp intentionally ran her over. She accused Knapp of stealing her money and other belongings, WZTV reported.

Officials said surveillance video shows a woman, alleged to have been Knapp, run to a vehicle in the motel parking lot, WTVF reported. Byers is shown on the video following Knapp and banging on the side of the vehicle, the television station reported.

Police said Byers attempted to block the car and was knocked down and run over by the front tire on the driver’s side of the vehicle, WKRN reported. The vehicle stopped for a moment with Byers still under the car before Knapp allegedly river rolled over her again with the vehicle’s rear tire, the television station reported.
