Target is making sure that its employees can make time to get a COVID-19 vaccine.
The company announced that it will give employees four hours of pay, broken down to two hours for each dose, as well as provide free Lyft rides, up to $15 each way, to get employees to a vaccine distribution location if they need a ride.
The company said vaccination is not required for work, but it is making sure that those who want to get the vaccines can and at no cost to the worker.
“Taking care of our team has been at the heart of every decision we’ve made since the coronavirus started, and this point in the pandemic is no different,” Target Chief Human Resources Officer Melissa Kremer said in a news release. “As more vaccines become available, especially for frontline and essential workers, we’ll help our team members across the country get the information and access they need. As we have for the past year, we’ll continue to invest in our team’s pay and benefits so they can take care of themselves, each other and our guests.”
Target has encouraged its employees to keep track of what phase the distribution is in for their area and to get the vaccine once they are eligible.
