The co-founder and guitarist of the band The Scripts has died.
Mark Sheehan was 46.
The Irish band confirmed Sheehan’s death after a brief illness and hospital stay, Sky News reported.
No official cause of death was released, TMZ reported.
The band was founded in Dublin in 2001. Sheehan and his childhood friend, and lead The Script lead singer, Danny O’Donoghue first met when they were 13 years old. The pair left Dublin to go to Los Angeles to start their music career, where they were songwriters and producers.
They returned to their native land and asked Glen Power to join their band on drums, releasing their self-titled debut album in 2008. The first single from the album — “We Cry” — made it to number 15 in the charts in the UK while another single — “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved” — made it to No. 2.
They have released six studio albums and have embarked on six world tours, Us Weekly reported.
The band had sold more than 20 million albums worldwide and their music made it to the U.S., featured in 90210, Sky News reported.
