According to KPCW, the avalanche was triggered by Damschroder and another skier at around 3:30 p.m. Saturday outside the boundaries of Canyons Village in the area known as “Square Top.”
The second skier located Damschroder, who was swept away by the slide, and attempted life-saving measures for more than an hour before extreme avalanche conditions forced him to leave the area and prevented emergency responders from reaching the site, KUTV reported.
