Pacific Cycle is recalling three models of its electric scooters because of problems with the handlebar grips that can pose safety issues.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission said about 11,340 Schwinn Tone Electric Scooters were sold by Schwinn Bikes and Amazon from May 2020 through Feb. 2021 for $350-$550. The recall includes the Tone 1, Tone 2 and Tone 3 models.
There have been nine reports of the handlebars on the e-scooters loosening or cracking, causing one person to fall and suffer minor injuries.
Customers should immediately stop using the scooters and contact Pacific Cycle for a free install repair kit. On Pacific Cycle’s website, there are instructions as well as a video showing how to use the repair kit. Customers can also ship the scooter back to the company to be repaired for free.
For more information, visit the Pacific Cycle website, or call 877-564-2261 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday.
