MADISONVILLE, Tenn. — A man’s comment about the appearance of a Tennessee Waffle House employee’s wife led to the customer flashing a gun, authorities said.
Ronald Wayne Darr, 55, of Englewood, was charged with aggravated assault, according to Monroe County Sheriff’s Office online booking records.
Madisonville police Officer Jesse Moses said he responded to a call about a fight at the restaurant at about 8 a.m. EST on Christmas Day, The Advocate & Democrat of Madisonville reported.
Moses and another officer talked to the employee and watched surveillance video. The employee told the officers that he was angered by Darr’s comment toward his wife, who is a server at the Madisonville restaurant.
According to the employee, Darr called the waitress over and allegedly used crude language to describe her physical attributes, the newspaper reported.
When the employee confronted Darr, the customer allegedly pulled out a Glock 21 handgun and placed it on the table where he was sitting, The Advocate & Democrat reported.
According to Moses, the gun had a fully loaded magazine and a round in its chamber. After watching the video, Moses placed Darr under arrest, according to the newspaper.
