Operation ‘Crystal Cowboy’ nets 25 drug arrests in South Texas

PLEASANTON, Texas — A South Texas police department announced 25 arrests after an eight-month investigation into the trafficking of narcotics.

The Pleasanton Police Department wrote on Facebook that an eight-month investigation nicknamed “Operation Crystal Cowboy” led to the arrests, as officials probed methamphetamine and heroin traffic in the city, KSAT reported.

Officers and the 81st District Attorney’s Office conducted the investigation and on Friday began executing arrest warrants, the television station reported.

“This month an Atascosa County Grand Jury indicted a total of 26 individuals on over 30 separate charges involving the distribution of approximately 204 grams of methamphetamine and 11 grams of Heroin in and around the Atascosa County area,” the department said in a statement on Facebook.

During the arrest roundup, police said “multiple suspects” were found with additional meth and heroin, KSAT reported. Two suspects also were charged with four counts of endangering a child.

By Friday afternoon, officials had arrested and booked 25 suspects into the Atascosa County Jail, the television station reported.

“During today’s operations, an additional 41 grams of methamphetamine and 6.5 grams of heroin were seized along with $2,671 of suspected drug proceeds,” the department wrote on Facebook.

Officials said they are continuing to investigate and expect to make additional arrests, KSAT reported.
