OKLAHOMA COUNTY, Okla. — Investigators in Oklahoma are looking for the reason why hundreds of packages were found dumped in a rural area.
The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office posted photos to Facebook showing the piles of nearly 600 Amazon packages that were found dumped on New Year’s Eve. In the post, investigators said “The tracking information shows the packages left the Amazon facility to go to the USPS for delivery, but never arrived.”

The packages were found in a rural area northeast of Oklahoma City, and many had items from inside the packages removed, CNN reported.
The sheriff’s office said they are working with USPS and Amazon to investigate the case.
There have been a number of recent reports of delivery drivers dumping packages. A FedEx subcontractor was charged after hundreds of packages were found dumped in Alabama, as we previously reported. Police officers in North Carolina also stepped in to deliver packages when a FedEx driver in Greenville dumped packages in a parking lot and the woods, as we previously reported.
