Singer Miley Cyrus was forced to cancel her appearance at a music festival after the plane she was on was struck by lightning and had to make an emergency landing.
Cyrus shared video of the storm from inside the plane on social media with the message, “To my fans and everyone worried after hearing about my flight to Asunción. Our plane was caught in a major unexpected storm and struck by lightning. My crew, band, friends and family who were all traveling with me are safe after an emergency landing.”

Cyrus had been en route to perform at the Asunciónico music festival, but the weather conditions in Paraguay were so bad that the first day of the festival was canceled, CNN reported. Foo Fighters, Machine Gun Kelly and Doja Cat had all been scheduled to perform.
Miley Cyrus’ tour website shows her next planned performance is at Lollapalooza Brasil in São Paulo, Brazil on March 26.
While lightning strikes don’t generally cause problems in commercial aircraft, smaller and private planes are not required to have the same kind of protection from lightning, NBC News reported.
