Michael Keaton may be sliding into the cowl once again.
Keaton is apparently in talks to become Bruce Wayne/Batman for the upcoming “The Flash” movie being lead by Ezra Miller, Entertainment Weekly reported.
The Wrap broke the news, saying talks are in the early stages. There has been no announcement of how big the potential role will be.
The Hollywood Reporter said Keaton’s casting could be expanded to other DC projects.
Miller will reprise the role of The Flash/Barry Allen that he debuted in the DC Universe film “Justice League” as well as a cameo in the “Arrow” episode “Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part Four.”
“The Flash” film is expected to continue a multiverse storyline, helping to explain the casting of Robert Pattinson as Batman for Matt Reeve’s take on the caped crusader “The Batman,” according to Entertainment Weekly.
Keaton first played Bruce Wayne and his alter ego Batman in Tim Burton’s 1989 “Batman” and its 1992 sequel “Batman Returns.” He also jumped into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in his role as The Vulture/Adrian Toomes in 2017′s “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”
Originally Keaton’s casting as Batman was not accepted because he had until that time been a comedic actor, but he proved detractors wrong, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“The Flash” is scheduled to be released July 1, 2022, Entertainment Weekly reported.
