Man arrested after woman found dead in bed of pickup truck with shoelace around neck in Michigan

A man has been arrested after a woman was found dead in the bed of her pickup truck with a shoelace around her neck in Roseville, Michigan, on Oct. 27.

According to a news release from the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office, on Oct. 27, Stephen Freeman, 19, was allegedly driving a truck near Hayes and Common roads in Roseville, Michigan, when he hit a semi-truck and fled the area on foot. The Roseville Police Department searched the truck and located a deceased woman’s body. She was later identified as Gabriele Seitz, 62.

According to WJBK, Seitz was found with a shoelace around her neck and with clear signs of strangulation. The medical examiner’s office said the cause of death has not been determined.

Freeman has been charged with concealing a death and receiving and concealing a body, according to WXYZ. If Freeman is convicted, he could face up to five years in prison. Additional charges may be expected.

Freeman’s bond was set at $75,000 cash or surety, according to WXYZ.

“Because the investigation is ongoing we are limited on what can be said at this time. However, when we have additional information from the investigation we will be updating everyone,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido, in the news release.

The investigation is ongoing. No further information has been released.
