Klondike hints that the Choco Taco may return

Just over a week after Klondike discontinued the Choco Taco, the company hinted that it might return.

In a tweet responding to someone looking for any remaining Choco Tacos, Klondike said they are working hard to bring the taco-shaped frozen treat back.

“We know Choco Taco is a huge fan favorite and a top seller for our out-of-home business, so this is particularly painful. We’re working hard to find a way to bring Choco Taco back to ice cream trucks in the coming years!”

The official Twitter account responded to a few other Choco Taco fans with similar replies.

“We know this is disappointing - we’ve heard our fans, and we’re hoping to bring this favorite treat back to ice cream trucks in the coming years!”

On Friday, Klondike released a statement obtained by CNN that said they are working on bringing the famous ice cream treat back.

“The overwhelming support for Choco Taco has certainly made us reconsider our long-term plans. The team is working on a plan to bring it back, though it may take some time. There are currently no definite timelines for bringing the Choco Taco back,” Klondike said in the statement.

The Choco Taco, first introduced in 1983, was discontinued in July after the company said the demand for the product declined.

“Over the past 2 years, we have experienced an unprecedented spike in demand across our portfolio and have had to make very tough decisions to ensure availability of our full portfolio nationwide,” a Klondike Brand representative said in an email.

“We know this may be very disappointing.”
