NORCROSS, Ga. — Police arrested a woman accused of attacking a mother at random in the parking lot of a motel.
The victim, who was staying with her family at a Motel 6 while her home was being renovated, told WSB-TV that she had just gotten out of the car with her 5-year-old son when a woman armed with a steak knife came barreling toward them and stabbed the victim in the face and chest.
“I had no time to react,” the victim, who did not want to be identified, told WSB-TV. “It happened within about 30 seconds.”
The victim’s mother, Amanda Hill, told WSB-TV that she came running when she heard her daughter screaming. She saw the stranger attacking her daughter and was stabbed once in the arm as she raced to intervene.
“As soon as she stabbed me, I punched her in the nose and I knocked the knife out of her hand,” Hill said.
Gwinnett Police arrested the suspect, identified as Filiz Flood. Flood was charged with aggravated assault and child cruelty, according to online jail records.
“I looked (the suspect) dead in the eyes,” Hill told WSB-TV. “And I said, ‘Baby, what in the world was you thinking?’ She said, ‘I’m mad.’ I said, ‘Who are you mad at? You don’t know my daughter or me.’ She said, ‘I’m mad at the whole world.’”
Police told WSB-TV that the suspect may have been under the influence of drugs.
The victim needed plastic surgery to repair the injuries to her eye and chest, and has set up a GoFundMe campaign to help pay for treatment.
