ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, La. — Drivers on a Louisiana interstate had to contend with a helicopter crash Tuesday, closing down part of the highway.
WDSU reported the helicopter crashed in St. John The Baptist Parish on Interstate 10.

The crash happened just before 1 p.m., WVUE reported.
The interstate’s eastbound lanes, along with the southbound lanes of Interstate 55, were closed with traffic having to be diverted, WDSU reported.
The helicopter, which was a Bell 407, according to WVUE, was privately owned and may have crashed due to the fog, WDSU reported.
In addition to wreckage on the highway, there is also some in Lake Pontchartrain and the FAA and NTSB are leading the investigation, WDSU reported.
