WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. — A Florida toddler died on Friday after being struck by an SUV driven by his grandmother as the boy walked between her vehicle and a stranded car the woman was attempting to help, authorities said.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 2-year-old boy was struck when his 58-year-old grandmother was backing up on a dirt road in Wesley Chapel at about 4:49 p.m., The Tampa Bay Times reported.
Troopers said the child walked between the two vehicles and was hit, according to the newspaper.

The boy was airlifted to an area hospital and later died from his injuries, WFLA-TV reported.
The FHP did not release the names of his child or his grandmother, according to the Times.
