Demolition company tears down wrong home in Texas

DALLAS — A Texas demolition company mistakenly tore down the wrong house Wednesday.

The company apologized for the mistake, WFAA reported.

The correct house to tear down was two blocks away, the Advocate reported.

“The house wasn’t marked (with an address), and it had no power and no gas,” demolition company owner Bobby Lindamood told WFAA. “All I can say is I’m sorry. It’s our worst mistake and we’ll make it right.”

The pink craftsman style bungalow was built in 1923.

Jeremy Wenninger said the home had not been lived in since 2018 but renovations had recently started. Wenninger promised the owner he would save the historic home, the Advocate reported.

Robb Hagestad is helping Wenninger purchase the home.

“All the windows were intact, there was plastic covering the hardwood floors,” Hagestad told WFAA. “I can’t even imagine that they wouldn’t pick up a phone and check if they were at the right place. It’s insane they would drive a bulldozer through it.”
