“I have been so devastated by seeing all the people lined up waiting for food," DeGeneres said in an Instagram post Wednesday. She added that she “can’t imagine what it’s like to be sitting for hours and hours, waiting to get food and hoping there’s going to even be any left by the time you get there.”
Actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro had nominated DeGeneres to participate in the campaign earlier that day.

The fundraising campaign is offering chances to win “once-in-a-lifetime experiences” in exchange for donations, according to its website. DeGeneres is offering a chance to co-host her show, while DiCaprio and De Niro are offering a walk-on role in their new film directed by Martin Scorsese, “Killers of the Flower Moon.”
