Armed man attempts abductions at separate Oregon coffee stands, police say

SALEM, Ore. — Police in Oregon are looking for an armed man they say tried to abduct two women who were working at two different coffee stands Saturday morning.

According to the Salem Police Department, the first attempt occurred at around 5:30 a.m when a man walked up to a Dutch Brothers coffee stand, KOIN-TV reported. Police said the man pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and pointed it toward the woman, telling her to leave the shop, the television station reported.

A co-worker intervened and the gunman fled the scene, KPTV reported.

According to police, a man fitting the same description appeared later at a Java Crew stand in Salem and tried to grab a woman who was working inside the store, KOIN reported.

The woman was able to break free from the man and run away, KPTV reported.

Police described the man as being in his late 20s or early 30s. He is approximately 6 feet tall and weighs about 180 pounds.
