It wasn't too long ago that GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz was being compared to the Zodiac killer. Now Internet users are saying that the Texas senator looks like the lead singer of the Christian-metal band Stryper.
A photo comparing Cruz to an old picture of the band in their yellow and black jumpsuits in the 1980s has people saying that Cruz looks very similar to the long-haired rock star.
One Twitter user joked that the two men are one and the same.
"I'm not saying Ted Cruz might be the lead singer of Stryper," Michael Boulerice wrote. "I'm saying he's DEFINITELY the lead singer of Stryper."

While the comparison is entertaining, it's not to be taken seriously.
Michael Sweet, the lead singer of the band, responded to the comparison on Twitter.
"So I guess my doppelganger is (Ted Cruz)?" he tweeted. "Guess I better cancel the (Stryper) tour so I can focus on my campaign."

Sweet also denied that he is moonlighting as a U.S. senator in a statement to The Daily Dot:
"It always amazes me how often posts that really matter never see the light of day, yet some wannabe comes along and posts something that is so ridiculous yet it goes viral? Twisted, yet the way it is. If I'm the real Ted Cruz, then maybe Robert (Sweet) is Donald Trump, Tim (Gaines) is Hillary Clinton and Oz (Fox) is Marco Rubio?"
