The post went on to say that the cereal product has been "linked to 130 lab-confirmed illnesses (salmonellosis) in 34 states with 34 hospitalizations." No deaths have been reported, according to the FDA.
The FDA urges consumers to check their homes and discard any remaining cereal. It says recent illnesses have occurred after people who still had the product in their homes consumed the cereal.
If a retailer is found selling Honey Smacks cereal, consumers are urged to report that to the FDA.
