Tires slashed on at least 30 vehicles in Seattle neighborhood

NOW PLAYING ABOVE

It's a sight that would make any car lover sick. Chris Dickensheets woke up Saturday morning to find two tires slashed on his custom Roush Mustang.

“It’s unbelievable,” he told KIRO 7. “Why would somebody do something like that?”

Police say Dickensheets isn’t alone. It’s estimated that at least 30 West Seattle residents had their car tires slashed early on July 5. Officers are still investigating, but no one has been arrested.

A couple of doors down from Dickensheets, Jan Brown said someone punched a hole in her pickup's tire and flattened a tire on her SUV while they were both parked in her driveway.

“I felt violated and I was a little nervous and a little scared,” she said.

The West Seattle Blog is filling up with photos from those who were victimized, along 48th Avenue Southwest.

It will cost Dickensheets $650 for replacement tires. Jan Brown will have to cough up $500 to get back on the road.

“It doesn’t make sense,” she said, “it really doesn’t.”

The neighbors are banding together to catch the vandal. They've set up a reward fund appropriately called, "payback for punks."  So far, $700 has been contributed to that fund.
