EDMONDS, Wash. — A vehicle collided into a power line and fire hydrant Saturday morning, which caused an underground water line to break and release thousands of gallons of water, according to the Edmonds Police Department.
The incident happened at 5:55 a.m. when police and firefighters from the Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to a report of a vehicle crash at 5th Aveny South and Alder Street.
When police arrived, officers found a delivery van that collided with a power pole and fire hydrant, which broke an underground water line to the hydrant.
Police said gallons of water were released onto the street.
Firefighters dug into the ground to get to the shutoff valve of the line.
According to police, water from the broken line flooded into and around three nearby businesses in the 300 and 400 block of 5th Avenue South.
There were no injuries reported.
The Public Utility District inspected the impacted power pole for damage, and the city of Edmonds Public Works and Water Department responded for the line damage.
