LYNNWOOD, Wash. — On Friday afternoon, three victims told police they’d had their cars broken into while they were inside Lynnwood’s LA Fitness.
The crook’s smashed the windows and grabbed items inside.
Maria Greene says roughly $700 worth of valuables were stolen from her car around 2 p.m. Friday, and she was told a spark plug was used to shatter her window.
"It just was like a hole in the middle of my window,” said Greene.
"They took two of my shopping bags, which was like $300 worth of stuff I had just bought, my purse, my wallet, everything in it,” added Greene.
When she went to get her glass repaired, she was told about the spark plug. She talked to other victims that afternoon who had their windows broken in the same way, as well.
When KIRO 7 asked an employee at LA Fitness whether they are informing customers about the break-ins, he said there were no surveillance cameras that would show the break-ins happening outside.
He said it didn’t appear the company was posting signs near the doors warning drivers about possible car break-ins.
He did say he thought a security team had been hired because of multiple break-ins over the last five months.
