SHELTON, Wash. — Police have arrested a 32-year-old Mason Co. resident named Thomas Gigstead -- for his involvement in the death of a Shelton woman.
Officers were called to the 800 block of Cota Street at 7:04 p.m. Wednesday after dispatchers received a call that a woman appeared to have overdosed and was possibly dead inside an apartment.
A 28-year-old woman found in the apartment was, according to police, obviously deceased.
Shortly after, investigators learned that a man ran from the scene before police arrived.
With the help of witnesses, Shelton police officers found the man a short distance away from the apartment. He was taken into custody for unrelated warrants.
Detectives are interviewing family members, friends and possible witnesses.
The cause of the woman’s death is not yet known.
