Woman rams gate, does doughnuts on golf course, hits golfers, police say

A car smashed into two golf carts on the sixth hole at Indian Summer Golf and Country Club in Lacey on Friday. 

“It was just out of this world,” said Ally Sborov.

Sborov’s a beverage cart attendant at the golf course.

She said her cart was hit when the woman drove her car onto the private course, and the crash dented the side of the cart and broke the wheel.

“I felt like my cart was going to roll, so, I I thought I was a goner, honestly,” she said.

Lacey police said Dacia Gilmore, 30, rammed through the neighborhood security gate, drove her car onto the green and began doing doughnuts. Golfers said that, when they told her to leave, she hit the gas and headed straight for them.

“All of a sudden, my mind, I was, like, 'She’s going to hit us,'” said Sborov.

According to court documents, Gilmore got out of her car after the crash and started swinging gardening shears at golfers who tried to stop her. She then ran away and was tracked down in the neighborhood by police, the documents said.

“It actually took approximately five of our officers to finally subdue her and take her into custody,” said Sgt. Jaime Newcomb, of the Lacey Police Department.

Gilmore was scheduled to be in court Monday, but her attorney said she didn’t appear due to security concerns because of her mental health.

Newcomb said officers had a tough time understanding Gilmore after the crash.

“At the time, it was pretty apparent that she was undergoing some sort of mental health issue and was not speaking clearly and her thoughts weren’t organized,” he said.

Golf course grounds crews worked quickly to fix the fairway. On Monday, only a few divots remained.

Sborov’s already back out on the beverage cart. This time, she said, she’s keeping an eye out.

"If I see another car on the course, that will be an interesting day,” she said.

Gilmore is scheduled to appear in Thurston County Superior Court Tuesday. She faces multiple charges, including three counts of first-degree assault, malicious mischief, hit-and-run attended with injury and third-degree assault.

Police said two golfers on the course were injured in the crash and were treated at the hospital and released.
