A Pierce County deputy pulled over a stolen vehicle in Parkland to find that the driver was wearing body armor.
On Wednesday morning, a deputy was patrolling when he saw a stolen vehicle in front of him and called for backup.
When they entered a construction zone, the driver of the stolen vehicle failed to stop for the flaggers who were directing traffic. The deputy then pulled the car over.
The deputy approached the car to find a man wearing a ballistic vest, commonly known as a bullet-proof vest. The driver told the deputy he "has a lot of enemies."
The deputy noticed that the running car had no key in the ignition and also observed a set of shaved keys near the emergency brake.
The 35-year-old driver was arrested. Police said he has an extensive criminal history including convictions for assault, burglary, malicious mischief and attempted unlawful imprisonment.
