2021 Thurston County Fair canceled

LACEY, Wash. — After a recommendation from the Thurston County Fair Board, the Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to cancel the 2021 Thurston County Fair.

Thurston County Fair Coordinator Theresa Reid said there were too many unknowns in keeping people healthy and safe while still wanting to provide a great fair.

“We’re very much looking forward to welcoming everyone back to the fair in 2022,” Reid added.

The commissioners did support a private fair for 4-H, and Future Farmers of America can show off the projects they were working on all year, but they will not be open to the public.

The commission encouraged everyone to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Commission Chair Tye Master said, “The faster we can vaccinate our community, the sooner we can get back to normal.”
