SEATTLE — Neighbor Troy Phillips and his 6th grade daughter Angela walked through the Holy Rosary school playground Monday, where students reported seeing a man expose himself to an entire playground during noon recess—again.
“I can't believe that he hasn't been caught," said Phillips. He vowed to look for anything unusual in the neighborhood surrounding the school.
Seattle police say this is the fourth time since last September that young students at the same school reported seeing a man exposing himself outside the fence surrounding the playground.
On Monday, 3rd and 4th grade girls on the playground reported seeing a white heavy-set man fitting the same description, naked from the waist down, get out of a silver or white minivan, and lean against it while looking at the students. School officials say he raced away when the students ran, calling for help.
Seattle police say several patrol cars responded within minutes, but the suspect was gone.
"It's so frustrating," said Holy Rosary parent Lisa Guthrie. “Kind of one of those things that you feel very out of control over. It happened multiple times last year, and obviously the administration gets extremely aggressive to protect the kids and the whole thing is just scary," she said.
Holy Rosary’s school principal told KIRO 7 that police, school staff, and even a nearby high school football team will be watching around the playground Tuesday.
“Members of the football team (from a neighboring school) will be out patrolling, and our staff will be out patrolling, so there'll be a lot more people out around looking, said George Hofbauer, the principal of Holy Rosary School.
"It's disgusting.” He said. “I understand a lot of things. This I don't understand. It just doesn't register, doesn't make any sense."
“We will tell all of our neighbors to be vigilant as well,” said Phillips. “We’ve got to catch this guy."
