Seattle police officers helped move donated furniture.

SEATTLE — Seattle police officers helped to move donated furniture on Saturday.

When Detective John Lewitt learned McCarty Hall at the UW was to be demolished, he had an idea.

With help, he organized a transfer of hundreds of bunk beds and wardrobe closets from the dorm to Union Gospel Mission, rehab facilities and area women’s shelters.
