Seattle man shot multiple times, recovering at local hospital

SEATTLE — 54-year-old Christopher Hunt says he’s lucky to be alive after he was shot multiple times on Dec. 10, just after midnight.

“I got one here, right here. I got one in the back, one in my legs,” says Hunt as he points out his bullet wounds. “I just started hearing gunshots and my windows started breaking. I feel something hit me, I know it’s bullets and I’m being shot.”

Seattle police say the suspect walked up and opened fire near 36th Avenue South and South Adams Street.

A witness found Hunt and rushed him to the hospital, where he remembers waking up with family by his side.

“A lot of people don’t take so many bullets and live,” says Hunt.

He has already undergone surgery and suspects there will be more given how many times he was hit.

Hunt says he’s a single father to a 9-year-old girl, and raising her will become more of a challenge as he tries to recover from his injuries.

Why he was shot remains a mystery.

Police haven’t released many details behind the crime but Hunt hopes they can find whoever was behind the trigger and make sure they’re locked up for good.

“Why did you do this,” Hunt asks of the shooter. “What did I do to you? Because I can’t think of anything I’ve done to anybody.”

Hunt’s family has created a GoFundMe page to help pay for medical bills and child care.
