Andrew Scheinthal, KIRO 7 News

Reporter

Andrew is an award winning journalist who joined the KIRO 7 news team in September of 2021. He previously worked for WSVN in Miami before making the cross country journey to the Pacific Northwest. Growing up in Houston, Texas, it was the attack on September 11, 2001 that motivated Andrew to become a reporter. He remembers watching the news that day and was moved by how collected and informed journalists across the country were informing everyone watching from home. At just 12 years old, he quickly printed out a news article about the day's events, grabbed his karaoke machine and read the article at the end of his driveway hoping to inform anyone who took the time to listen. Years later, Andrew majored in Journalism at Suffolk University and during his senior year, he reported for New England Cable News for a segment called Suffolk in the City. It was there he gained his first live on air experience that paved his journalism career. From Boston he moved to Bangor, Maine where he landed his first job in TV News. He reported, produced and anchored newscasts for WVII/WFVX. After nearly 2 years at the duopoly, he moved to Florida in 2014 where over the next 7 years he covered multiple hurricanes, presidential elections, mass shootings, the surfside building collapse and the COVID-19 Pandemic. With family in the area, he is grateful to call Western Washington home. From cooking to outdoor activities, it doesn't take much to entertain him, and he's always taking restaurant recommendations.
