Seattle making switch to Indigenous People's Day Monday

SEATTLE — On Monday, Seattle changes Columbus Day to Indigenous People's Day.

Some say its political correctness gone too far.

The city's Italian community took out a full-page ad in the Seattle Times.  Italian American activists say their heritage is under assault.

They are ready to go head-to-head with Seattle city leaders over the unanimous decision to change the name of the holiday and and have formed political action committee to fight it.

Native Americans say Columbus committed genocide and shouldn't be celebrated.

The Italian group says indigenous people deserve their own day -- just not the same day they regard as a celebration of Italian heritage.

The mayor is expected to sign the resolution at 4:30 p.m. He'll be joined by tribal leaders.

His office said he'll address the concerns about the change.
