Police surround Lacey home where man fired shots from window

LACEY, Wash. — Police surrounded a home in Lacey where a 29-year-old man was shooting at deputies from a window Thursday afternoon, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

The incident happened at a house in the 5300 block of Rumac Road Southeast. Five to six homes were evacuated on each side of the house.

Officials told KIRO 7 the man surrendered to police around 5:30 p.m. after officers fired gas canisters at the home.

At least two people were inside the home when the man fired the shots.

Thurston County Sheriff’s Office deputies told KIRO 7 a second man was arrested and involved with the shooting.

“We do know there was a lot of anxiety inside this house. There was perhaps some sort of dispute among family members that we still haven’t figured out the root of that cause. And then the presence of what appears to be hallucinogenic mushrooms," said Greg Elwin of the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.

Both men were taken to Providence St. Peter's Hospital in Olympia just to be checked out.

The men will be booked for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon.
