KITSAP COUNTY, Wash. — Hundreds of people are pocket dialing 911 in Kitsap County, tying up lines for people who need emergency help.
One single phone mistakenly dialed 911 4,000 times between July and November. That works out to more than one call an hour.
The Kitsap Sun reports that in a three-week span last year, dispatchers got almost 650 hang-up calls.
Kitsap isn't the first county to have the problem.
In Snohomish County, more than 100 people accidently called 911 last month.
Each call ties up an operator from 30 seconds to two minutes.
