Pickup slams into Phinney Ridge Starbucks

SEATTLE — A pickup slammed into the Phinney Ridge Starbucks shortly before 3 a.m. Monday.

Firefighters had to shore up the building at 316 North 67th Street with wood braces before pulling the truck out after it took out one of the building's structural columns.

Fire crews told employees who were arriving to open the store at 5 a.m. not to go inside.  They want a structural engineer to come out and check the stability of the old brick building.

KIRO 7 News video showed the front end of the truck inside the building.

Police said the driver ran from the scene after the crash.

A car slammed into the same Starbucks in August.

It is not yet known when the store might reopen.
