MUKILTEO, Wash. — The owners of Jireh Asphalt and Concrete in Mukilteo tell KIRO 7 they’re fed up with being the target of thieves and are now offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of a man they said was recently caught on security cameras stealing thousands of dollars in equipment.
Surveillance video shared with KIRO 7 shows a man moving around inside one of the company’s containers on the property and moving equipment towards a car. Business owners said the man cut the locks to their front gate and to two containers that housed expensive equipment.
In one surveillance clip, the man is seen moving around in the container without his face covered before apparently realizing there’s a mounted security camera. He then quickly covers his face and covers the camera.
Mukilteo police said they’re now working to identify the man in connection to the burglary that happened last Friday at the business located on Cyrus Way.
"I think we're all upset, very upset,” said Viry Rodriguez, one of the owners.
Rodriguez said more than $8,000 in equipment was stolen and the man spent more than two hours at the business. An employee who showed up to work later that morning discovered the front gate open.
"We want him arrested so maybe he just won't come back here,” said Rodriguez.
She said the business has been targeted four times in the last several years and is now offering the $1,000 reward in hopes of someone identifying the man in the video.
"It's frustrating when you try to do everything right, when you're trying to be a hard worker and somebody comes and steals everything from you,” said Rodriguez.
The business tells KIRO 7 it’s now working on additional security measures.
Call police with information related to this investigation and identity of the man seen in the video.
