Multiple search warrants served at Mt. Vernon apartment complex, 13 residents detained

MT VERNON, Wash. — Thirteen adults were detained Thursday morning after multiple search warrants were served at an apartment complex in the 1800 block of S. 2nd Street.

Of those 13 adults, seven were booked into the Skagit County Jail on unrelated warrants.

The warrants were served following several months of investigation by the Mount Vernon Police Department with assistance from the Skagit County Sheriff's Office, Department of Corrections, U.S. Marshal's Office, Washington State Patrol and the FBI.

Investigators found drug paraphernalia in several units, as well as evidence of drug sales and use.

Patrol officers have had frequent contact over the past several months with individuals known to abuse illegal drugs and be involved in criminal activity at the apartment complex. Officers were able to develop information leading to multiple search warrants covering all eight units of the complex.

Charges will be filed upon completion of the investigation.
