FORKS,Wash. — A fire in Forks that destroyed two buildings, including the Twilight store, cut power and caused the closure of schools.

One of the buildings destroyed, called Dazzled by Twilight, sold souvenirs from the Twilight movie series set in the Olympic Peninsula town.

Both buildings were about 80 years old.

Clallam County Fire District 1 Chief Phil Arbeiter said the fire was reported before 4 a.m. Monday.

Arbeiter said the fire started in a three-story wooden building known as the Oddfellows building. The historic building housed a theater group and Hispanic grocery store.

The fire spread to the adjacent Twilight store, which was not in operation.

A propane tank at one of the buildings exploded during the fire.

The fire knocked out power to most of the town, but has since been restored for all customers except for five businesses near the scene of the fire.

Diana Reaume, superintendent of the Quillayute Valley School District, said the town’s elementary school, middle and high school were closed because the fire cut a power line.

The buildings were not occupied at the time of the fire, and no one was hurt.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
