FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — A man in a car was shot and killed in the parking lot of a Federal Way apartment complex early Tuesday.
Just after 1 a.m., Federal Way police were called to the Mariposa Apartment in the 28100 block of 18th Avenue South in Federal Way where neighbors reported hearing gunfire.
When officers arrived, they found a 22-year-old man in a vehicle with a gunshot wound to his chest.
The man was in his car with his wife when he was shot. She was not hurt.
The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he was pronounced dead.
The man was actually shot in the parking lot of the apartment complex, some distance away from where he was found by police.
Investigators are gathering evidence.
Federal Way police believe that a fight led up to the shooting.
The gunman remains at large.
