Man offered to rub woman's feet before attempted rape

TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma police arrested a man on charges of attempted rape after a woman was grabbed on Pacific Avenue early Tuesday morning.  But first, he offered to rub her feet, police said.

According to a probable cause affidavit Marcus Stockinger, 30, approached the woman in the 5700 block of Pacific Ave. south around 3 a.m.

He sat next to her on a planter and introduced himself saying, "I'm Marcus, can I rub your feet?"

Police said the woman said no and got up to leave when Stockinger pulled her backwards by her hips and slammed her into a cedar tree several times, eventually grabbing her by the hair and forcing her head into the tree saying “drop your pants.”

Police said he punched her several times.

The woman screamed "please don't rape me!" which got the attention of nearby residents who called police. Stockinger was arrested after a brief struggle with officers.

Stockinger is charged with attempted rape, indecent liberties and robbery. He's due in court Wednesday afternoon.
